Considerable activity is currently ongoing in the electric utility industry to develop and apply new technology and systems planning concepts to get the most benefit from transmission facilities. Much of this activity is occurring w1thm the umbrella concept of a major EPRI program called "Flexible AC Transmission Systems" (FACTS). This document contains a number of papers presented in panel sessions on FACTS, September 1991 and January 1992, which cover much of the recent activity within USA.
