Technical Report 24 Jan 2020

With the original publication of IEC TR 61850-90-5, now integrated into the core parts of IEC 61850 Edition 2, Amendment 1, (a.k.a. Ed. 2.1)1 ?Communications Networks and Systems for Power Utility Automation?, (hereafter IEC 61850 or 61850) and IEEE Std C37.118.2TM-2011, ?IEEE Standard for Synchrophasor Data Transfer for Power Systems? (hereafter IEEE C37.118.2 or C37.118.2), synchrophasor devices and systems could transfer real-time synchrophasor data based on either standard. This has created a potential situation where synchrophasor data may need to be exchanged between devices or systems that implement different standards. This report recommends a mapping approach for addressing the need of such data exchange and for consideration by standardization organizations to create a standardized mapping based on the recommended approach.
