Our theme of shocking tales presents an unusual approach for our magazine, albeit an interesting and perhaps (to some) humorous view of strange events that have occurred to electric power systems and caused consternation to those systems and to their operators. Our issue's guest editor, Michael Henderson, has compiled seven articles that offer the details of unusual events in different parts of the world that illustrate the complexities that may have differing catastrophic effects on power systems.
