Impact of Inverter Based Generation on Bulk Power System Dynamics and Short-Circuit Performance (Video)

IEEE and NERC formed a joint task force in June 2017 to address concerns about high penetration of inverter-based resources (IBR) and the associated impacts to protective relaying and large system issues. The goals were to identify what issues are already addressed (or are being addressed) by what groups, and identify where gaps exist requiring additional technical work. The task force completed their work in July 2018, with the document (PES-TR68 Impact of Inverter Based Generation on Bulk Power System Dynamics and Short-Circuit Performance) being posted in the IEEE/PES Resource Center website.
