Presents the concept of a super-flexible hydropower plant as a vital enabler accelerating the energy transition. In addressing future needs, the classical hydrogenator should be revitalized with a new advanced control design with digital/physical sensors and digital twin, enabling a multi-service device where short-term power capabilities and other assisting services can be supplied simultaneously.
In this context, we project bulk hydropower facilities to be a key player in the future power system's modernization and digitalization.
New hydropower requirements, services, and operational regimes are emerging. Currently, there is a need to implement digital technologies for additional real-time control functionalities to make the hydropower generators smarter in operation. These solutions could dynamically allow enhanced utilization of the inherent characteristics of hydropower facilities. From following this webinar, the participants should be able to understand the inherent capabilities and vital role hydropower will play in the future power system.
