Webinar 18 Aug 2020

This webinar will explore relationships between the impedance of three-phase systems in DQ, sequence, and phasor domains. Each of these domains have been used separately for modeling, stability analysis, fault analysis, and protection design of power systems; however, the relationships between them are not thoroughly understood. This webinar will show that the impedance in all the three domains are mathematically related and so-called frequency coupling effects play an important role in how they are related. The webinar will also discuss how the dc and ac side power systems are dynamically coupled through an HVDC converter. Impedance measurements of utility-scale wind turbines and inverters will be presented to experimentally demonstrate the relationship between the dq and sequence domains.
