Technologies for Advanced Volt/VAR Control Implementation

This panel will focus on the advanced approaches for Volt/VAR Control (VVC) that are being implemented to achieve benefits of energy savings, peak load reduction, and reduced losses on distribution systems. These approaches can be based on centralized control approaches, distributed controls or a combination. Other new approaches are being proposed that can provide more accurate voltage control across the entire feeder and also respond fast enough to deal with fluctuations associated with high PV penetration, load switching, fast electric vehicle charging, etc.
