This panel session will focus on incorporation of emerging technologies to improve grid efficiency and performance. Efficiency and performance improvements have been key drivers for Smart Grid development. The industry is working on incorporating today?s emerging technologies along with well-established solutions into the wider future Smart Grid vision. The panel discussions will range from economical grid operations to performance improvements (enhanced reliability and power quality, loss reduction, etc) achieved via new energy delivery infrastructures and solutions (e.g. distributed energy resources, microgrids, distribution automation, distribution and outage management systems, advanced metering infrastructures, grid analytics, etc). Speakers: Mohammad Shahidehpour, Illinois Institute of Technology Amin Khodaei, University of Denver John McDonald, GE Energy Management Julio Romero, Quanta Technology Jianhui Wang, Argonne National Laboratory
