Advanced Distribution Management Systems (ADMS) have become more widespread to manage the electrical distribution grid at utilities. Integration of ADMS has been occurring without the ADMS being able to completely account for the impact of the proliferation of Distributed Energy Resources (DERs), microgrids, Distributed Energy Resource Management Systems and EVs and how these systems will integrate with requirements such as FERC 2222. Currently, these systems are handled as separate entities with little coordination among them. Efficient and effective management of the electric distribution system requires an integrated approach to allow various systems to work in harmony. The objective of this panel is to: ï Identify the needs of various stakeholders from an integrated system perspective ï Identify the gaps in the integration of DMS, DERs, EVs, and microgrids ï Discuss the architecture of the integrated system (functions, communication, control, interoperability) ï Establish the relationship between different components for enabling them to support grid services and market participation through integrated DERs ï Provide support services to both transmission and distribution grids ï Support large-scale integration of EVs in the distribution grid Presentations in this panel session: - FLISR, Volt VAR Optimization and DER-DMS Integration (23PESGM2781) - Migrating DMS to the Cloud (23PESGM4452)
