This panel aims to bring together the decades of experience and success stories of several Minority Serving Institutions (MSIs) and National Labs working together under DOE-Minority Serving Institution Partnership Programs (MSIPPs) (i) to improvise power engineering education both at undergraduate and graduate levels including new curriculum development activities at MSIs, (ii) to train the next generation of the U.S. workforce in power and cyber physical systems from the underrepresented communities, and (iii) to address the challenges faced by the investigators at MSIs and the National Labs in recruiting and retaining students from the underrepresented communities, as well as to discuss Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) plan that could benefit from the activities that directly target underrepresented students.
