Panel 19 Jul 2023

In December 2021, FERC issued Order 881 which went into effect in March 2022 requiring utilities to implement ambient-adjusted ratings (AAR) on their transmission lines. With a three-year window to fully implement AAR, some utilities are beginning to dive in fully, while others are taking a wait-and-see approach. This panel will gather a number of stakeholders representing a variety of regions/ISOs to discuss status, outstanding questions, known concerns, and provide suggestions for others. The goal of this panel is to exchange ideas to support those in the process of developing revised FAC-008 compliance documents and implementing AAR over the next two years. Additional regulatory action (including a brief discussion of Order 881, Order 881-A issued in May 2022, and any follow-up action in advance of the panel) will also be addressed. Presentations in this panel session: - Introduction (23PESGM0994) - PJM Ambient Adjusted Ratings: Pre and Post Order 881 (23PESGM3969) - MISO's Progress on AAR (23PESGM3970) - Xcel's Updates on FERC Order 881 Implementation (23PESGM4055) - FERC & Regulatory Updates (23PESGM3972)
