The increased and varying technology applications of power-electronic based devices in power networks has led to many new challenges in a new frontier of electrical infrastructure. The widespread and necessary proliferation of inverter-based renewable generation, dynamic shunt compensation, series compensation and HVDC presents opportunities for the definition of terms, technologies, applications, studies and processes. This panel session will discuss some innovative ideas as well as some implementation experiences with regards to these technologies. Some major topics that are proposed to be discussed are: A.
