Panel 18 Jul 2023

Artificial Intelligence (AI) can extract valuable information from the data collected from Internet of Things (IoT) sensors that can be used for pro-active control of smart buildings and distributed energy resources (DER) to improve energy efficiency and open up opportunities for coordinated operation between transmission, distribution, smart building and DER facility systems. For instance, learning from the building occupantsí historical data will allow characterizing zonal activity levels, and demand response model identification and behavior forecast to provide automatic demand response and support distribution power systems during grid events. Learning starts at the sensor level (edge) to optimally control smart building and DER in real-time or near real-time. This panel will bring experts from academia, industry and national labs to discuss the following topics in the context of AI-enabled architectural solutions associated with the integration and coordinated operation of DERs related to consumer energy services. ï AI-enabled Grid-Interactive Smart Building Architecture: Design Optimization and Demonstration ï Demand Response Model Identification and Behavior Forecast with OptNet: a gradient-based approach ï Resilient and Clean Architectural Paradigms for Exurban Residential Microgrids ï Grid Architecture Transformation for T&D Coordination ï Engaging Non-utility-owned DERs for Grid Services Presentations in this panel session: - AI-enabled Grid-Interactive Smart Building Architecture: Design Optimization and Demonstration (23PESGM3930) - Demand Response Model Identification and Behavior Forecast with OptNet: a gradient-based approach (23PESGM3931) - Resilient and Clean Architectural Paradigms for Exurban Residential Microgirds (23PESGM3933) - Grid Architecture Transformation for T&D Coordination (23PESGM3934)
