The increasing frequency and severity of major events driven by climate change is creating significant challenges for distribution systems around the world. These challenges vary by region, for instance, in the U.S., they include wildfires in the West Coast, major hurricanes in the Gulf of Mexico, East Coast, and the Caribbean, winter storms in the Northeast, and heat waves all over the country. This panel session will discuss the initiatives currently being implemented by four electric utilities to improve distribution system resilience and reliability. Topics for discussion will include infrastructure, technology, and DER and NWA solutions to improve distribution resilience and reliability;climate change readiness;planning, modeling, and analysis,;metrics and investment justification;and key trends to watch in this area.
