The climate continues to change, and the reported socioeconomic impacts demonstrate the vulnerability of populations to current weather and climate events. Crucial to tackling this crisis is to decarbonize the worlds energy system and shift the global energy demand from fossil fuels to a low carbon supply. This Super Session will address the challenges around net-zero GHG emissions goals, the pathways to decarbonizing the electric sector, and the present and future role of engineering in energy sustainability. Panelists from around the world and multiple sectors will converge to outline the critical actions needed to accelerate and smooth the clean energy transition.
