New career opportunities in power engineering: How can recent graduates prepare for those jobs

Power systems have evolved significantly in recent years. With the emergence of alternative sources of energy generation and storage, and increased deployment of remote sensing devices, power engineers need to tackle new sets of challenges in power grid operation and planning. These dramatic changes have also resulted in career opportunities that do not fit in traditional power engineering employment definitions.
