Panel 20 Jul 2022

Studying and providing solutions for an increasingly dynamic power and energy system requires the development of pioneering models and innovative thinking. Multi-agent systems are widely adopted for the simulation of complex power systems and for distributed decision-making. The actual intelligence of such agents is, however, dependent on the models they incorporate, which makes it essential to highlight the synergy between multi-agent systems and other artificial intelligence branches. This panel addresses some of the most promising models that can be achieved through the combination of multi-agent systems and other artificial-intelligence models from fields such as game theory, cyber-physical systems, machine learning and transactive energy systems. The panel will foster discussion on the advantages of combining multi-agent systems with other intelligent models and systems and will identify gaps in this kind of synergy, which are expected to contribute to the opening of new research paths towards a more efficient and intelligent power and energy system.
