Transmission expansion planning is being impacted by several aspects of the energy transition, including electrification of energy end-uses, scaling-up of variable renewables, retirement of fossil-fueled thermal plants and deployment of distributed energy resources. The session will convene representatives from system operators, planning agencies and research centers from North America, Europe and Latin America to discuss how their transmission planning methodologies, procedures and decision-making process are adapting to these impacts.
