In “Energy Internet” paradigm, the distributed energy resources (DERs) are controlled by edge computation resources with information exchange via communication system. The control architectures, functions, algorithms and validation tools towards this future vision lack attention and investigation. This panel session will discuss the coordinated control and co-simulation method for real-time control and operation of DERs in power systems. Specifically, the communication-aware distributed control for communication-efficient, cyber-resilient, delay-tolerable control of microgrids will be introduced. The data-driven control by using deep reinforcement learning is designed to perform model-free optimal and adaptive control in uncertainty grid environment. The co-simulation techniques and platform to realize these model-based and data-driven control approaches will also be presented.
