Development of methodologies and tools for composite system reliability (CSR) analysis has been underway for approximately 50 years. However, there is still widespread dissatisfaction with the available tools, according to a survey of industry practices conducted by the CSR TF in early 2020. The TF has been following up with selected respondents to drill down into the various areas of dissatisfaction. The needs have expanded with recent efforts to consider VER and to address cascading as result of physical and cyber component outages and to apply CSR concepts in the operating time frame. This panel session brings together practitioners, researchers, and software developers from the Americas, Asia, and Europe to establish the state-of-the-art in CSR analysis tools and directions for further development. Developers include representatives from commercial software vendors and utilities that have developed their own tools.
