Integrated Energy System (IES), as well as Multi Energy Networks (MEN) including electric, district heating and natural gas, has been studied by many researchers for several years. As the physical layer of Energy Internet (EI), is an emerging concept to shape the next-generation energy system. Based on their research these years, the panelists will give talks about how to model and optimize the planning and operation of IES, e.g. in the form of energy hubs, as well as MEN, e.g. natural gas pipelines/district heating network coupled with electric power network. How to model the system precisely, how to deal with the uncertainties and how to guarantee a reliable and economic operation for IES will also be discussed, so that the benefits of IES, especially in terms of increase the system flexibility and renewable energy penetration, can be further enhanced.
