2020 PES GM 8/6 Panel Session: Challenges With Hosting Capacity Analysis In Distribution Networks

With distribution networks seeing an increasing amount of distributed energy resources (DER), hosting capacity analysis is critical to safely integrating renewable energy and other DERs into the distribution networks.
This panel aims to provide an industry perspective on hosting capacity analysis. The panel will discuss challenges associated with current hosting capacity workflows, such as network model cleanup and handling network model uncertainty. It will also discuss gaps with present technologies, and improvements that can be made to address today’s challenges. Finally, the panel will also delve into state-of-the art hosting capacity technologies and methodologies.
