Panel Session 06 Aug 2020

Humanitarian projects are aimed at enabling sustainable solutions to provide impact to development communities. The IEA estimates just under 1 billion without access to electricity and around 2.3 billion without access to clean cooking solutions. Humanitarian Projects can have a transformational impact for a community but pose non-trivial sustainability challenges. Power system technologies, large and small, are often a key component in these solutions. This panel seeks to provide an overview of humanitarian projects and technologies including: the development process, first-hand experiences of successful projects, managing volunteers, design and implementation of sustainable projects, and current opportunities that are available within PES and more broadly.
