This panel will address the potentials and promises of Artificial Intelligence (AI) of 2020 for power and energy system operations and control. AI has evolved over the last 40 years to impact complex systems operations and control in a meaningful way. Concurrently, the power and energy systems operations and control has grown in complexity, now dealing with bidirectional power flows, variable power and energy sources, uncertainty in forecasting and real-time availability of generation, loads, energy storage and resources. The panelists, from academia and industry, will present examples of AI-2020 technologies for stable, secure, reliable and efficient operations and control in generation, transmission, distribution and prosumer/consumer systems.
