Panel Session 06 Aug 2019

Recognizing the need for the representation of distributed energy resources (DER) in transient stability planning studies, the Western Electricity Coordinating Council (WECC), through its Renewable Energy Modeling Task Force (REMTF), has led a concerted effort to develop such model. This work spans several years and has resulted in the recent implementation of the DER model in several commercial transient stability programs extensively used in North America. The model has been implemented as a standalone
model and as part of the composite load model. The objective of the panel session is to disseminate and
document the experiences and insights acquired by the developers and users of this new model.
