To operate the distribution system in an efficient and reliable manner, the distribution system operators rely on a set of tools and applications including, power flow, state estimation, distribution network restoration and reconfiguration. All of these applications require an accurate distribution network and phase connectivity model. However, electric utility companies typically do not have accurate topology information. This panel will provide a forum to disseminate recent developments in data-driven topology and parameter identification technology in power distribution networks. The panelists from various research institutes will discuss algorithms to detect topology change and reconstruct the distribution network. The applications and algorithms will cover both primary and secondary feeders.
