Due to climate change, supply scarcity, and society™s desire to expand access to electricity and improve energy system resilience, there is an increasing need for more integration of energy storage devices into power grids for managing variability from renewable energy sources, among many other benefits. These energy storage technologies require new methods and tools to operate and control them. The need for reliable operation and control of emerging energy storage technologies has been imperative for independent system operators, utilities, service providers, etc. This panel addresses the advances in energy storage systems and their integration in the context of power system reliability and resilience. Experts from federal and private sectors will review the progresses and recent advancements in all these aspects as well as the path forward for energy storage applications.
