The energy system is facing a period of significant transition. New technologies, particularly coming from the ICT world, are supposed to play a major role in the future. On the other hand, grids are critical infrastructures that cannot be used for testing purposes. It is then necessary to de-risk any new technology through a serious evaluation process that does not involve the grid itself. In this respect, Real Time Simulation and Hardware in the Loop Technologies are emerging as a possible approach to define new processes for rapid insertion of new technologies. This webinar will introduce the fundamentals of these technologies giving the audience the ability to appreciate the potential for the energy infrastructure. Particular focus is placed on studying the interaction between the power system and the communication infrastructure. The webinar will also be enriched with concrete examples of applications to support different use cases scenarios. Most of these examples are inspired by on-going or just completed large international projects.
