This Webinar: The changes in the energy arena call for more and more ICT in the operation and infrastructure of modern utilities. In particular, the idea of a "customer-centric" grid is completely transforming the relation between energy providers and end-users based on the possibility of bi-directional data exchange. While most research has targeted specific technical issues of the so called "Smart Grid," very little attention has been paid to the definition of a comprehensive, flexible, scalable and reusable ICT platform to deliver innovative energy services. However, this platform concept is a pre-requisite for a real interoperability. This webinar will present some recent key developments in the so-called Future Internet area, supporting innovative approaches to energy service deployment. Seven large field trials across Europe, involving some of the most important utilities, will be presented to demonstrate that such a platform is becoming a reality. The goal of the presentation is to share these practical experiences and to document the path towards the creation of an energy-focused standardized software platform as a practical enabler of future energy services.
